Hello all!
Some time ago I mentioned that we were considering a new name for the Almond assistant.
I’m happy to announce that the name was chosen and is now public: we’ll be called Genie!
The name was announced at the Nov 10 workshop. You can watch the video to learn more.
Previously, Genie was the name of the conversational tech, and Almond was the assistant. From now on, Genie will refer to both, and the project as a whole. It was the simplest option to choose only one name for all aspects of the project.
As part of the rebrand, we have a new website: https://genie.stanford.edu
Currently, the website points to the development release of Genie (previously known as Almond dev). We’re working on a full stable release of Genie in the coming weeks, at which point almond.stanford.edu will become genie.stanford.edu.
If you’re interested in helping us test the release, please stay tuned, we’ll have announcements on that soon.
The wiki was also renamed to https://wiki.genie.stanford.edu (with redirects). I expect the community forum will move as well, but I don’t know the ETA for that.
