No audio output on RPi client

Hello,

Sorry because I’m sure I’m going to miss a ton of basic info here. I’m running the Genie-Edge addon in Home Assistant (version 2.0.1). This is running in a Linux VM on my home server. I’ve got genie client v0.1.0 installed on a RPi with a USB mic and 3.5mm speaker. It’s connected to the server and takes commands. However, there is no audio response. You can see in the console output that it generates a reply but nothing is heard. I’ve checked the raspi-config tool to make sure the 3.5mm is the default. I’m not really sure where else to check,

first, for the “Additional configuration” part, where told how to set alsa mixer: " Use alsamixer -D hw:1 to set the volume of the “Headphone” to a non-zero value."

second, for the “Configuration” section so that al the modules and other stuff is correctly installed and loaded
